Farrell as Oz
Farrell's role as Oz is already a nominee for next year's Emmy Awards. His acting seems secondary to the stunning make-up done to transform him into a penguin.
It's all in the mannerisms. Where Farrell shows his dexterity as an actor is in the way he sees people as he speaks to the various characters in the story.
You completely forget that this role is played by an Irish actor. It's to the point that this character becomes less limp when around people, which speaks to Oz's self-image issues despite his obvious bravado.
“mat [Reeves] He said to me, “Have you talked to Mike Marino?” I said, “Yeah, we’ve been texting a little bit.” He said, “Has he ever shown you what you look like?'' Farrell described the first time he saw the costume he wore for the character.
“And I just saw this beautifully sculpted 360-degree bust. I saw the character, I saw the history, I saw the pain, I saw the aggression, I saw the cruelty, and I saw a little bit of sadness. It was all there,” Farrell said.
Danny DeVito played the Penguin in batman returnsspoke passionately about Pharrell's display.
“Oh, Colin is trying to run away from me for money. And that's totally different. I've been watching it all the time. I haven't seen it all, but I've seen most of what's been released… It was really good. ” DeVito said.
