The world's largest annual timed bike race cape town cycling tourwill be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024.
With only a few hours left (as of press time), participants will be keeping an eye on the weather forecast for race day, especially the wind.
In addition to the 'standard' 109km race, there will also be a 42km route this year.
This year will be the 46th time.
Weather conditions at the start of the week looked suitable for fast times, but the latest forecast for those lining up at the start said winds would be a factor.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has released forecasts for each location on the 109km route the race will take around the peninsula.
SAWS predicts clear skies during the race, with the lowest morning temperatures in the CBD. 18 degrees Celsius.
Winds are in a south-southeast direction with peaks of: 40km/h at various points along the route.
