India has a rich and diverse history of sweets. Certain traditional desserts are associated with festivals celebrated that year, while others are a common part of our daily diet. Recently, three Indian sweets made using rice received global recognition. Taste Atlas, the popular gourmet and travel guide, has released a list of the world's 10 best rice puddings. This is based on internal rankings as of April 2024. We are proud to have three Indian delicacies in the top 10.

Firni and Kjaer occupied fourth and fifth place respectively. Sakkarai Pongal came in 9th place. About the beloved North Indian phirni, Taste Atlas says: “Traditionally served in small earthenware vessels known as sikora, phirni is always well-chilled and garnished with nuts and rose petals, and is often garnished with silver paper or candi walku for an extra layer of flavour. ” When it comes to kheer and payasam, the food guide acknowledges that there are many different versions.
Sakkarai Pongal is a traditional sweet from South India. Regarding the special cooking method, Taste Atlas says: “Rice is usually cooked outdoors over a fire, with the pot facing the east where the sun rises, and it is also customary to bring the dish to a pongal, or boiling boil, symbolizing bountiful food. Masu.”

Top of the list was Turkish filin satrak, an oven-baked rice pudding. See other top rated ones below.
