There was good news for three South African airports at the recently held 2024 Skytrax World Airport Awards. A ceremony was held in Frankfurt, Germany this week to recognize the world's best airports in a variety of categories. Skytrax has been running the world's airline and airport star rating system for 25 years.
Since 1999, we've been rating airlines and airports based on quality and service. The world's number one airport is Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar. In second place is Singapore's Changi Airport. And South Korea's Seoul Incheon Airport took the podium spot.
Top airports in South Africa
The top three airports in South Africa are Cape Town International Airport, King Shaka International Airport in KwaZulu-Natal, and OR Tambo International Airport in Gauteng. They each won a prize in a highly popular contest.
