Simelane recently completed his law degree and is on his way to becoming a legal practitioner.
Veteran news anchor Thulasizwe Simelane will be returning to broadcasting to replace Steven Groats, who left the role a few months ago.
“I return to the airwaves with a renewed perspective on life, South Africa, Africa and the world,” declared presenter Simelane. Morning News The morning show will air on SABC's SAfm on weekdays from September.
“I feel that my recent experience in the corporate sector and the professional growth journey I am on has not only given me a deeper understanding of complex issues in politics, international relations, business and law but also equipped me to ask better questions of those in power and those who wield power,” said the former Newsroom Africa anchor and political editor.
Simelane currently serves as Head of Business Development and Stakeholder Management at Harris General Partners, a pan-African investor and developer.
He recently completed his law degree and is on his way to becoming a legal practitioner.
“He joins at a very exciting time as our country celebrates 30 years of democracy. His style of delivering fact-based, compelling and engaging content will be key for our audiences as the SAfm family continues to grow,” asserted Anthony Soglo, Business Manager, Radio Fortune Combo.

This also marks Simelane's return to the public broadcaster, where he began his career in 2007 and where he helped set up the SABC's Harare bureau.
His career experience includes primetime news anchoring across various news television networks (eNCA, Newsroom Afrika), Head of the Political Newsdesk at Newzroom Afrika, anchoring a show on 702 and as a senior political journalist with SABC News & Current Affairs.
He holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Rhodes University and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Wits University.
Groot on Radio 702 and Cape Talk
Groot left the public broadcaster in July, replacing Bruce Whitfield, who announced his departure from Radio 702 and CapeTalk earlier this year.
“I am delighted to be rejoining Radio 702 and Cape Talk following the departure of radio legend Bruce Whitfield. A lot of the discussion will now turn to the economy and there is no better venue for this than the Money Show,” Groats said.
The mid-day show was SAfm Breakfast, co-hosted by John Gerick and Oliver Dixon for the month.
