Aston Villa made light of the absence of suspended striker Rachel Daley as Jordan Nobbs scored a stunning goal to beat Tottenham in the Women's Super League.
England midfielder Nobbs ended an entertaining encounter with a stunning first-time finish from 20 yards out with the outside of his right boot.
Adriana Leon initially put Villa ahead with a shot inside Barbora Voticova's near post, but Spurs equalized when Amy James-Turner headed home Evelina Zumanen's free-kick.
However, Nobs won in style and almost scored the second goal that effectively sealed the victory, controlling Kenza Dali's invitation to bounce back onto the crossbar.
The visitors of Carla Ward were grateful for the excellent stops of Daphne van Domselaar, who was on either side of Nobbs' winner, and she made excellent saves from both Martha Thomas and Spurs substitute Jessica Nasz.
Villa were without last season's Golden Boot winner Daley due to a three-game retroactive ban for elbowing Bristol City's Megan Connolly, but with the win they now within three points of sixth-placed Spurs. Stuffed.
More to come.
