Trevor Noah has shot to the top of Twitter's trending list following his involvement in the affair of Miss South Africa finalist, Chidinma Vanessa Adesina.
Over the past few months, Chidinma has received a lot of hate because of her Nigerian origin.
While the group has supported Vanessa, some South Africans on social media are not in support of her inclusion.
Several Twitter Now X users have sparked debate and controversy by comparing South African-born comedian Trevor to Chidinma, claiming that he is also not of South African descent as one of his parents is not from Mzansi.
“Trevor Noah“His father is from Switzerland, his mother is from South Africa. South Africans love him.” Chidinma: “His father is from Nigeria, his mother is from South Africa. Xenophobic South Africans hate her and say she is not South African. Xenophobic South Africans are a disgrace to our country,” wrote a Twitter user.
“TRecoil Noah“'s father is from Switzerland, mother is from South Africa. South Africans love him, Miss SA. Chidimma's father is from Nigeria, mother is from South Africa. South Africans hate her, say she is not South African. Xenophobes are a threat, how evil South Africans are,” wrote another.
You are forgetting the key to this! Trevor Noah was and still is deeply immersed in South African culture and traditions. He was proud to be South African and celebrated all his achievements with us South Africans! All South Africans can relate to him, regardless of their background!!! https://t.co/NuQhDuQjuS

Some black South Africans are furious that a Miss South Africa contestant has a Nigerian father. But they love Trevor Noah, whose father is Swiss. It's stranger than fiction. https://t.co/IyaAT9qq0J
