The South African Weather Service is predicting cold, wet and windy weather across several provinces, with snow, rain and strong winds.
Impact-Based Warnings
An orange level 6 alert has been issued for the north-eastern highlands of the Eastern Cape as heavy snowfall has damaged livestock and crops and left some communities inaccessible.
Heavy snowfall is expected to cause icy roads and traffic disruptions in the northern highlands of the Eastern Cape, leading to a level 2 amber warning.
A level 4 amber warning for heavy rainfall causing localised flooding of roads and flood-prone settlements is expected to be in place for the southern West Coast, the western Cape Winelands, the City of Cape Town and the western Overberg Municipality.
A level 1 amber alert was issued for the far eastern Free State and northern inland KwaZulu-Natal as strong winds could make major roads difficult for high clearance vehicles and damage temporary structures.
A level 2 yellow warning has been issued as strong winds are causing localised disruption to ports and harbours, difficult driving on coastal roads, choppy seas and possible damage to coastal infrastructure in exposed bays along the coast between Cape Agulhas and Plettenberg Bay.
