Tyra was nominated in four categories: Best African Act, Best R&B, Best Afro Beat and Best New.
South African music sensation Tyra nabbed three of the four nominations at the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) in Manchester, England on Sunday.

Tyra's competition in the Best R&B category included international heavyweights like SZA, Kehlani, Tinashe, Usher, and Victoria Monet.
“I know it's very hard to categorize my music. I mix so many different genres into one, but R&B is a huge influence on my music, especially Aaliyah. . She's like one of my idols.

In the Best Afrobeats category, Tyra was up against Asake, Burna Boy, Rema, Ira Starr and Thames. For the Best African Act award, she was nominated alongside TitoM and Yuppe, DBN Gogo, Nigerian and Tanzanian icons Asake, Ayra Starr and Diamond Platinumz.
“It's unbelievable. Literally all the nominees are amazing. They've embraced Afrobeats in the past and I'm so honored to win this award. It's so incredible,” Tyra said, along with her sister Sydney.・He spoke while accepting the award with Cesar by his side.
