Roma defender Evan Ndicka has been released from hospital after collapsing during Sunday's Serie A match against Udinese.
Roma announced that the 24-year-old Ivory Coast player suffered from chest pain on the pitch, but a hospital examination revealed that he did not suffer from a heart attack.
“The player has been discharged from hospital and will undergo further tests in Rome,” the club said in a statement.
Roma also expressed their gratitude to Udinese, the referee and the hospital.
“AS Roma would like to thank Udinese and referee Luca Paillette for their great professionalism, as well as the medical staff at Santa Maria della Misericordia Hospital in Udine.
“During those few anxious minutes, we came together to demonstrate the value of sport and put saving lives first.”
The Serie A match was abandoned after Ndicka collapsed in the 72nd minute and was carried off on a stretcher.
He appeared to have regained consciousness as he left the pitch with the score at 1-1 and the remainder of the match will be played at a later date.
Roma posted a photo of himself in the hospital on Sunday night, saying he was “feeling better” and that his teammates had come to visit him.
Roma's medical staff and emergency services were called to the pitch after Ndicka collapsed and, after consultation with the referee, the match was called off.
Ndicka joined Roma on a free transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023 and made 19 appearances for the Italian club.
Roberto Pereira gave Udinese an early lead and striker Romelu Lukaku scored the equalizer for Roma on Sunday.
