American musician Usher has opened up about the backlash he faced over the intimate hug he shared with Alicia Keys during the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show.

In a conversation with breakfast club radio show On Monday, February 19, Usher told radio show host Charlamagne Tha God that he chuckled at Alicia Keys' reaction to hugging her husband Swizz Beatz.
“We definitely had a laugh about that,” the Confessions singer said.
It’s crazy the way people think,” he continued. “It’s all about how you express things, it’s all about love.”

The duo performed their 2004 hit song titled. my boo.
“We celebrate the legacy of IT.”
Usher further stated that their performance was all about having fun and essentially celebrating the legacy of their 2004 hit song.
” [It was] It's literally about having fun because of the songs that me and Alicia made years ago and because of that legacy we celebrate it,” the singer shared.
Usher also added that there was “no derogatory intent” towards anyone, including Alicia's husband Swizz Beatz.
Swizz, whose real name is Kaseem Deen, also hit back at the criticism the day after the Super Bowl.
“Everyone is talking about the wrong things!!!,” Swizz captioned the post.
He continued: “Can't you see that amazing dress that covered the entire stadium?? Tonight's performance was an amazing one from two amazing Giants!” he wrote alongside photos of the performance in an Instagram carousel.
“Congratulations @usher and my beloved @aliciakeys, that song is a classic 🤍 We don't give out negativity on this side, we make history,” Swizz concluded the post.
