Watkin 'Waddy' Tudor Jones has built a career amid controversy. He is also a ninja from Die Antwoord along with Yolandi Visser and DJ Hitech.
After a long hiatus from performing and recording, Die Antwoord will tour across the EU and UK in 2024.
In 2022, the Department of Social Development (DSD) investigated the allegations against Mr. Jones and Mr. Visser. Their representatives later denied these allegations.
A video of Waddy at Table Mountain comparing hip-hop to “retarded children” has resurfaced.
Here's why it's relevant:
Wadi: “How do parents love their retarded children?”
A video from January 2016 shows Die Antwoord's Watkin Tudor-Jones standing atop Table Mountain.
This is a popular spot in Cape Town, South Africa, known for its strong winds and stunning aerial views.
In the first minute of the video, he compares his love for hip-hop to “the way a parent loves a retarded child.” An international fan of user Die Antwoord uploaded the video to YouTube.
The group has been accused in the past of exploiting physical disabilities, such as that of progeria sufferer Leon Botha.
According to the Cambridge Dictionary, the word “retarded” is sometimes used as a slur and is often used to look down on people who are mentally or physically disabled.

This unpleasant interview adds to the controversy Die Antwoord is already facing. That's not very good.
