EFF leader Julius Malema is not happy with how Lekau Sejoana's Drip Footwear company was shut down.
Touching on the issue at a press conference on Thursday, the politician said: “Why is there no corporate bailout? Go to liquidation. Why is there no save? When we need Patrice Motsepe, where is he? If If he's a successful black billionaire, where is he when so many promising young entrepreneurs are failing?”
Malema expresses his concern to the workers who have lost their jobs and promises to speak to the company's founders.
“I'm setting up a meeting with Sehoana. I want to understand what's going on. At face value, Drip has been doing well and was a growing brand that you see in a lot of shopping centers, so I'm trying to figure out what's going on.” I would like to know more about the money, but I don't know how the money will be used internally.
“The drip is worth saving. Let's listen, let's make the calls. Those who can step in can take over the drip's finances until it stabilizes and collects its funds.”
“I can't make a phone call right now, but I'm going to issue a statement once the discussions are over and say, 'This is what we think could happen.'
“We are more concerned about the employees of those stores than we are about Sejoana. Their families will go hungry.”
