He served as President of South Africa from 2009 to 2018 and ANC President from 2007 to 2017.
He just won a court bid to run in May's general election in alliance with the MK party.
Several books have been published about the controversial former president, but no feature film has yet existed.

It's no wonder that actors play presidents in movies and television.
Paul Giamatti played US President John Adams in the film of the same name. Jeff Daniels played George Washington.
Another candidate is an actor who previously played President Nelson Mandela in a movie.
Morgan Freeman played President Nelson Mandela in the movie Invictus. Actors David Harewood and Clarke Peters also play President Mandela in the film. Idris Alba also played Mandela in the film and was once considered for the role of James Bond.
Actors don't just look like the person they're playing. This is an art, and it also requires a proper understanding of the mannerisms (and other characteristics) of your subject.
Actors who perform well can win the entertainment industry's biggest awards. Biopics about Elvis and Ray Charles did well.
