Natasha Joubert became the first Miss South Africa (Miss SA) winner to avoid multiple international pageants, including Miss World, for various reasons during her reign.
Unlike previous winners, the Tshwane beauty queen chose not to compete overseas. Instead, she expressed her decision to focus on her local title. In her absence, runner-up Bryoni Govender represented SA at the Miss Universe pageant late last year.
Natasha, who recently got engaged, was previously in the top three of Miss SA 2020.
The Miss World pageant will be held in India on Saturday, March 9th.
The reason Natasha Joubert won't be able to compete in Miss Universe and Miss World
Natasha Joubert represented Mzansi in the Miss Universe pageant after becoming Shudu Msida runner-up in 2020. However, she did not make it into the top 21.
Natasha was allowed to re-enter the Miss SA pageant, but international pageants have different rules.
According to pageant enthusiast and YouTuber Lina Hendricks, Natasha may never compete in an international pageant again.
Hendrix said. South African: “The rule is that a woman cannot represent her country in Miss Universe more than once. There was never any way for Natasha to go to Miss Universe again.”
Unfortunately, Miss SA did not renew her license for the world pageant, so Natasha Joubert will also not be able to compete in the Miss World pageant.
Hendricks added: “Carol Bower Productions subsequently acquired the Miss World license in South Africa and established the Miss World South Africa pageant.
“Natasha will not be able to go to Miss World as Miss World is no longer affiliated with the Miss South Africa organization.”
Brioni Govender will represent SA at Miss Universe, which will be held in El Salvador in November 2023, while Claude Mashego will represent Miss World South Africa at the international pageant, which will be held in India this weekend.
What about paranormal phenomena?
