Shudu Musida will go down in history as the last Miss SA to compete in Miss World. This weekend, the inaugural holder of the newly established Miss World South Africa title will represent the country in her place.
Musida, the 2020 winner, competed in the contest in Puerto Rico on March 16, 2022. After months of delays, the 71st Miss World pageant will be held on March 9 at the Jio International Convention Center in India.
Shudu was the last Miss SA in the global pageant
The 70th competition was held in early 2022 after a two-year delay due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Shudu Msida Msida was crowned Miss SA in October 2020, but had to wait until she could make her grand entrance at the world pageant, which was postponed again to 2020 and 2021.
Hours before kick-off on December 16, 2021, the international competition was rescheduled due to an outbreak of COVID-19 among the contestants. And it wasn't just the coronavirus infection that the contestants were dealing with. Hotels in Puerto Rico were dealing with severe power outages, officials said.
Like the previous crown, the 2023 Miss World has been postponed twice. The location also changed from UAE to India.
A new South African representative who has not participated in the Miss SA pageant will take to the stage in 2024.

In October, Claude Mashego was crowned the first ever Miss World South Africa. The doctor will compete for the crown alongside beauty queens from over 100 countries.
Why did she choose Miss World?
In many capacities, national title holders choose to participate in the Miss Universe contest.
However, Shudu Msida revealed her confusion over participating in Miss World at SABC 3. espresso Do a show before the pageant.
