The Springboks could seek a cash injection following reports that American sports investment firm Ackerley Partners is interested in investing in SA Rugby.
According to a report on network 24the move comes amid major changes for South African Rugby, with SA Rugby Director Rassie Erasmus set to focus on coaching the Springboks within SA Rugby's new structure.
Ackerley Partners' potential investment follows negotiations between SA Rugby and CVC Capital Partners and is now redirected to strengthen the Springbok brand internationally.
If realized, this would be the second US investment in SA Rugby, following MVM Holdings' investment in the Sharks since 2021.
