Tony Rock claims Will Smith lied about contacting Chris Rock after the infamous “slap” incident at the 2022 Oscars ceremony.
Chris Rock's younger brother Tony has spoken out after his name was mentioned in Will Smith's apology video last year.
In a video posted to Smith's social media accounts on July 29, 2022, the 54-year-old actor apologized for slapping the comedian on stage. The video apology was a follow-up to a statement he wrote days after the incident.

In the video, Smith claimed he “reacted emotionally” to Rock's joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head.
“It was one of those things that happened in the moment, but I just didn't realize. I didn't think about how many people were hurt in that moment. So I want to apologize to Chris' mother. I also want to apologize to Chris' family, especially Tony Locke. We had a great relationship, you know? Tony Locke was my man. And this will probably be irreversible. .”
Will Smith went on to say that he tried to contact The Rock but did not receive a response.
Will Smith and Chris Rock haven't spoken yet
In a recent appearance on BigBoyTV, Rock refuted Smith's claim that he called the comedian to apologize days after the incident.
“It wasn't true, it wasn't true,” Rock said on his radio show. “I think two nights later he said, ‘I reached out to Chris and he didn’t want to talk.’ That wasn’t true.”

“He doesn't owe me anything. I just thought we were better than that,” Tony said.
“My phone number still hasn't changed. So I was like, “Oh, I'm going to get a call one day, and I'm going to just talk to you.'' It hasn't happened, so I don't think it's going to happen,” Tony said of the Will Smith and Chris Rock drama.
