Head coach Ioan Cunningham said Wales “have to believe” they can do the job in Ireland as well to get Six Nations action back on track.
Wales are at the bottom of the table with one bonus point after losing games against Scotland and England.
After three losses at WXV1 last fall, he fell to 8th place in the world rankings.
But Cunningham, who is preparing for Saturday's trip to Cork, says there are positive signs.
“We've shown in patches how much of a threat we can be and the way we finished against England was really encouraging,” he said.
“The impact off the bench has been really good and we're creating chances. We just need to be a little better when we get the chances.”
Wales will be hoping to end their losing streak at five this weekend, but Cunningham admits it “could become a negative cycle”.
“The most important thing we do is focus on the positives in the game, focus on ourselves, keep the energy high and get ourselves back,” he said.
“If we do things right, it should cause a lot of trouble for the team.”
Cunningham is well aware that bonus points could see Wales move into third place by the weekend if other results go well.
“This third round is quite a shake-up. England are playing Scotland and France are playing Italy, so if we get the areas of the game right there could be a shake-up in the table.”
“We have to go out there and believe we can do it. [Ireland] They're confident in camp at the moment, there's a good feeling about them and there's buzz about what they're doing.
“It’s going to be a tough environment in Cork, with fans packed close to the field and completely different to Ashton Gate, but we’re really excited and looking forward to building on what we’ve done so far. I hope I can raise it.'' It's an 80-minute performance. ”
