U.S. stocks rose slightly on Thursday after the inflation report.
The S&P 500 rose 0.5% in early trading, on track to surpass the record set last week. As of 9:40 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 55 points, or 0.1%. The Nasdaq Composite rose 0.8%.
Inflation reports show that prices across the country rose almost exactly as expected in January.
European stock markets were mixed on Thursday.
Britain's FTSE 100 index rose 0.4% to 7,651.72 points. France's CAC40 was flat at 7,955.13. Germany's DAX rose 0.6% to 17,697.36.
The Euro Stoxx50 was flat at 4,884.09.
Inflation eased further in France and Spain in February, data showed.
Eurozone inflation figures are due to be released on Friday.
In Asian stock markets, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 0.2% to 16,511.44. China's Shanghai Composite Stock Price Index rose 1.9% to 3,015.17.
Japan's Nikkei Stock Average fell 0.1% to 39,166.19.
