World Rugby will consider a series of recommendations to speed up the match and improve the fan experience.
The global governing body hosted the Shape of the Game Forum in London on Thursday, where key stakeholders called on the world to “reimagine rugby's spectacle and grow its share of attention in the increasingly competitive global sports and entertainment market.” We met to do this.
The group agreed five areas that World Rugby will “consider in collaboration with key stakeholders” before a detailed plan is submitted to the federation's board for consideration.
These include “speed and flow”, “language and presentation of the game”, the women's game, player welfare and health, and a review of the disciplinary process to “facilitate efficiency, consistency and fan understanding”. It will be done.
World Rugby Chairman Bill Beaumont said: “Shape of the Game 2024 is an important milestone in defining the future of our sport.
“This is how our on-field product and off-field experience can drive long-term growth, with a new calendar that will ensure we deliver exciting content from the expanded Rugby World Cup in the long term.” It was born out of the need and opportunity to increase rugby's audience by considering a new world championship.
“It’s great to see that all stakeholders – players, coaches, match officials, tournament owners, unions and communities – have a strong desire to evolve the game towards success not just at elite level but in the community. It's a game. “
