The Springboks' 2.43 rating point advantage at the top of the Test rugby rankings will remain intact for at least the next two weeks after Ireland failed to establish themselves against the world champions.

Springboks top the world rugby rankings
Fortunately for the Springboks, their closest rivals at the top of the table, Ireland, are not a team that has moved up the table.
Saturday's two Six Nations games were very close, but Sunday's only game of the tournament ended in a 36-0 win between Ireland and Italy.

However, no points were awarded to the reigning champions as there was a difference of 16.53 points and 9th place between second place Ireland and 11th place Italy until home advantage was taken into account.
With a rating of 94.54 points, the Springboks therefore enjoy a healthy 2.43 lead over Ireland, the next best Test team with 92.11 points.

The team with the most points was France, who earned 1.12 points after a nerve-wracking 20-16 win away to Scotland.
Les Bleus currently have a rating of 87.39 points, which is not enough to move them above fourth place, but they have closed the gap to New Zealand to 2.41 points.
Scotland lost the same amount of points with the defeat, but remained in 6th place, with Argentina still in 7th place, 2.65 points behind.
Fifth-ranked England won a similarly tense 16-14 win against Wales, but they only picked up 0.08 points, leaving them further behind than they were against France. Wales remain in eighth place, still comfortably ahead of Australia.
