As the largest company in China Mobile phone manufacturer Xiaomi makes great Android smartphones that boast top-notch hardware. If you want something different than the latest Samsung or Apple, the Xiaomi 14 might be for you. With a versatile camera, beautiful display, and top-notch specs in a relatively compact package, this sleek Android smartphone is suitable for most people.
Xiaomi packs some truly cutting-edge features into its Ultra model (coming soon), and the Xiaomi 14 is no slouch either. Pocket-friendly in both senses, it's an elegant all-rounder running Android 14 with Xiaomi's improved HyperOS. At first glance, it looks a lot like last year's Xiaomi 13, but overall improvements make the Xiaomi 14 more appealing.
elegant design
The Xiaomi 14 is similar in size to my Pixel 8 and iPhone 14 Pro, but the design is closer to Apple's phones, with flat edges around the frame. The main square camera module on the top left of the back has a stepped design. At 193 grams, it's not too heavy and is just the right size for most people to handle with one hand. On my review device, the curved glass on the back is a matte black that doesn't attract fingerprints, but it also comes in white and a more interesting green.
Xiaomi 14 is durable and has an IP68 rating for water resistance. Gorilla Glass Victus protects your flat screen. The USB-C port and SIM card tray are on the bottom edge, and there's a power button with a volume rocker on the right spine. The overall design is quite conservative, yet elegant and sophisticated.
The 6.36-inch AMOLED display has a camera notch at the top and a fingerprint sensor below the screen at the bottom. I thought the fingerprint sensor responded very well. The screen is the highlight. It has a resolution of 2,670 x 1,200 pixels, delivering a crisp resolution of 460 pixels per inch (comparable to the iPhone 15 Pro). It features a dynamic refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz for smooth animations and scrolling and conserves battery life wherever possible.
The display is bright enough to read outdoors in direct sunlight, with peak brightness reaching 3,000 nits for highlights. Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support make this the perfect phone for watching movies. The stereo speakers offer Dolby Atmos and boast incredible depth.I watched some scenes from dunes and blade runner 2049 When I tried it out, the Xiaomi 14 looked and sounded good enough that I was immediately attracted to it.
solid performer
Smooth performance is thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with 12GB of RAM. You also get a generous 512 GB of storage and the latest, faster UFS 4.0. Xiaomi 14 has enough power to multitask and play the most demanding games without stuttering or dropping frames. After almost two hours, grimvaler and defense zone hd, It was cool.
After playing for 20 minutes, Asphalt 9: Legend Used 4 percent of battery. Rated at 4,610mAh, you can expect the Xiaomi 14 to survive all but the busiest days, but you'll want to charge it every night. Using the included 90-watt charger and USB-C cable, you can fully charge your Xiaomi 14 in just over 30 minutes. The phone also supports up to 50W of wireless charging, but you'll need Xiaomi's wireless charger (£60) to get that speed.
Connectivity is great. Xiaomi 14 supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. It also supports proper distribution of spectrum across 5G and 4G. We maintain a strong signal here in the UK and should be fine in Europe, but people in the US will need to check with their carrier, as we don't have mmWave 5G bands.
versatile camera
One of the main reasons to consider a Xiaomi smartphone is its photography capabilities. The rear camera of Xiaomi 14 combines three 50-megapixel lenses. The main lens boasts a 1/1.31-inch sensor, f/1.6 aperture, and 23 mm focal length. The telephoto lens offers 3.2x optical zoom with an f/2.0 aperture and 75mm focal length. There's also an ultra-wide-angle lens with an f/2.2 aperture and 14mm focal length. All bases are covered with this trio.
