DJ Zinhle says her statement was misunderstood…
A portion of DJ Zinhle's interview discussing South Africa's youth unemployment sparked mixed reactions on social media.
According to Stats SA, at least 45.5% of South African youth or young adults (15-34 years old) are unemployed.
During an interview with Relebohile Mabotja 702DJ Zinhle acknowledged South Africa's high unemployment rate and suggested that many people are “unemployed” because they lack the necessary skills.
“The thing about South African youth is not only that they are unemployed. Many of them are unemployed. They don't have the skills they need,” she said.
DJ added that they had trouble filling three positions at one of their Mpumalanga stores.
“I'm concerned about how long it will take to fill Ella's position. Just finding the right person for our store literally takes longer than it should in a country with such high unemployment. .
“We are planning to open a store on the Highveld in Witbank, but we are looking for three people to work in the Witbank store… that is not possible.”
Zinhle also revealed that she struggled for a long time to find the right personal assistant.
“I haven’t had a PA for this long because every time I find one it doesn’t work out…” she said.
Zinhle's remarks have since sparked mixed reactions on social media platforms, with some people agreeing with her.

DJ Zinhh apologizes
In response to the backlash, DJ Zinhle issued an apology and clarified her intentions.
She said she is committed to addressing the underlying issues that contribute to youth unemployment.
Furthermore, she added: Are we in denial that we can’t get the job we want because we don’t have the necessary skills?
“Are we denying that not all people have the education they need for employment? I'm talking.”
